PPEC Services
At AKL Therapy, we believe every child deserves compassionate, comprehensive care that supports their growth and development. That’s why we offer Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC) services—specialized medical daycare designed for children with complex medical needs.

PPEC centers are medical daycare facilities where children with special healthcare needs receive skilled nursing care, therapies, and educational programming in a safe, nurturing environment. Children can attend up to 12 hours per day, allowing parents to return to work or school with peace of mind, knowing their child is receiving expert care.

Children from birth to age 21 may qualify for PPEC if they have a medically complex condition such as:
- Cerebral Palsy
- Autism with medical comorbidities
- Severe Developmental Delay
- Genetic Disorders
- Seizure Disorders
- Respiratory Conditions (e.g., oxygen dependency, tracheostomy, ventilator care)
- Gastrostomy Tube Feeding (G-tube)
- Cardiac Abnormalities
- Diabetes
- Spinal Cord Injuries
- Brittle Bone Disease
- Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS)
- Metabolic Disorders
- Down Syndrome
- Colostomy Care
- Parenteral Nutrition
- IV Medication
- Premature Birth Complications
- And many other diagnoses requiring skilled nursing care
Our team works closely with your child’s physician to determine eligibility through a prescription or letter of medical necessity.
In addition to skilled nursing and medical care, AKL Therapy provides a wide range of therapies to support your child’s development:
- Occupational Therapy (OT)
- Physical Therapy (PT)
- Feeding Therapy
- Aquatic Therapy
- Vision Therapy
- Developmental and Educational Activities
- Social and Emotional Support
- Onsite Pediatrician Consultations
All services are delivered by licensed professionals in a fun, engaging environment tailored to each child’s needs.

We understand the challenges families face, which is why our services are fully covered by Medicaid when prescribed by a pediatrician. We also accept private insurance and self-pay options. Transportation options may be available through your insurance plan, and we’re happy to assist families in understanding how to request these benefits.
